How to Fix Sage Error Code 1920
The Sage Error Code 1920 generally occurs while performing Sage Accounts installation. There are three variations of this error code message:
- Sage AutoUpdate Manager Service unable to start.
- Sage 50 Control Service unable to start.
- Sage 50 Accounts Data Service unable to start.

Resolution
- Clear Temporary Folder
- Press on the Windows key + R key together.
- Enter %temp% and click on OK.
- Next, press the Ctrl + A keys and hit Delete.
- Select Yes.
- This will delete all files stored in the temporary folder. (Note: This may also affect other software, so check with an IT expert, if not comfortable).
- Restart Computer
- Restart the computer and then log in again as an administrator.
- Disable the antivirus program for a moment
- And perform software installation.
- End Sage Processes
- Press on the Ctrl + Alt + Deletes keys.
- Go to Task Manager and open to the Processes tab.
- Locate Sage/Central/AutoUpdateManager/Service.exe and click on it.
- Click on the End Task or End Process.
- End those processes beginning with sg or Sage.
- Attempt software installation.
- Modify Permissions
- Press on the Windows key + R key together. Enter explorer and click OK.
- Browse to C:\Program Files and right-click on Common Files select Properties.
- Click on Security tab > Advanced > Owner tab > Edit.
- From Change Owner section, choose Administrators, click on OK > Apply.
- Right-click on Common Files and select Properties, click on Security tab > Edit.
- Allow Full Access to all, excluding the CREATOR OWNER.
- Click on OK > Apply.
- Repeat steps 5 for the Sage folder (Double-click on Sage folder).
- Browse to C:\Program Files and double-click on Common Files and on Sage as well.
- Double-click on Central and AutoUpdateClient folder.
- Right-click on each file present in the AutoUpdateClient folder.
- Next, click on Properties > Security > Advanced > Owner tab.
- Verify the user is an Administrator.
- Verify the folder owner and permissions to Common files has been applied to:
- Sage
- Central
- AutoupdateClient
